Your code arrives separately
Each person receives an individual, revocable access code. Do not paste it into the URL, name, description, OAuth Client ID, or OAuth Client Secret fields. Enter it only on the green-and-white NZ Business Index authorization screen.

ChatGPT personal setup
Use the Plugins area and OAuth. The exact availability of Developer mode can depend on your account or workspace policy.
1Turn on Developer mode
Open Settings → Security and login, then enable Developer mode.
2Open Plugins
Go to the ChatGPT Plugins page and press the + button to create a new plugin connection.
3Enter the server details
Add the name and description below, choose Server URL, paste the exact /mcp URL, and select OAuth.
4Accept and create
Tick the custom-server safety acknowledgement, then choose Create. ChatGPT will discover the server's OAuth settings.
5Enter your private code
On the NZ Business Index authorization page, enter the code sent to you, review the read-only permissions, and choose Allow read-only access.
6Start a fresh chat
Review the discovered tools, then add NZ Business Index from the Plugins or tools menu in a new conversation.

Claude personal setup
Remote custom connectors are supported across Claude plans; free accounts are currently limited to one custom connector.
1Open Connectors
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.
2Add a custom connector
Choose + → Add custom connector.
3Enter name and URL
Name it NZ Business Index and paste the exact server URL ending in /mcp.
4Leave Advanced settings empty
Do not put your private code into OAuth Client ID or Client Secret. This server registers Claude automatically.
5Connect and authorize
Choose Add, then Connect. Enter your private code on the NZ Business Index page and approve read-only access.
6Enable it in a chat
In a conversation use + → Connectors, then switch on NZ Business Index.

Use automatic OAuth discovery and dynamic client registration where supported. Never add the personal code to a URL or static configuration file.
Troubleshooting
ChatGPT or Claude says “Failed to connect”
Check that the URL is exactly https://hetzner-ax.tailb0521d.ts.net/mcp, including HTTPS and /mcp. Select OAuth, do not select a tunnel, and do not put the private code in the URL.
I connected before individual codes were introduced
Remove or disconnect the old NZ Business Index entry, add it again, and complete the new authorization screen with your personal code.
Claude asks for an OAuth Client ID and Secret
Those Advanced settings are optional. Leave both empty. Your personal access code belongs only on the later NZ Business Index authorization page.
My private code is rejected
Codes are individual and case-sensitive. Copy the entire value, including the nzbi_ prefix. Ask the server owner to confirm that your invitation is active and has not expired or been revoked.
The connection succeeds but tools do not appear
Start a new conversation and explicitly enable the plugin or connector. If the client cached an older schema, remove and recreate the connection so it scans the current tools.

Transparent access monitoring
For security, the server records the invitation label, client name, aggregate authorization/token/request counts, and last activity. The authentication layer does not store prompts, tool arguments, or conversation contents.
